BMW Thailand's Class of the Future explores visions of a 'better normal' future in face of an ever-changing world

Eight-class series will see industry leaders shareinsights on the 4 pillars of focused future such as Finance, Lifestyle, Ecology and Energy

 

Bangkok. With today’s world driven by technology, continuous innovation and digitalisation, BMW Thailand is introducing the BMW Thailand – Class of the Future initiative to accumulate thoughts and ideas, explore new visions and business creativity, targeting BMW customers, executives, businesspeople, marketers and public. This initiative will reinforce participants capabilities with insights and expertise from more than 16 leaders and experts in various industries in Thailand, through an eight-session series covering: Fintech, Life in the Future, Ecosystem for a Better World, Green Space, Health and Wellbeing, Renewable Energy, and the Future of EVs. ‘BMW Thailand – Class of the Future’ is designed to not only reflect BMW’s commitment in mobility leadership but also on enhancing life for an inclusive and sustainable future. ‘BMW Thailand – Class of the Future’ will highlight sharing knowledge and views through 360˚ activities for 8 classes and workshops for three months. With the focus on major megatrends in industries that will shape the economy and society of the future, participants will have a unique opportunity to learn and interact with leading experts and intellectuals during the workshops:   

  1. A BETTER NORMAL – a panel discussion on important changes in technology, the environment, business and the pandemic that impact our lives and all industries, including elaborating creativity into the better and smarter normal life.
  2. FINTECH – learning about fintech, blockchain, and cryptocurrency from the fintech specialists; Mr. Thana Thienachariya, Chief Executive Officer of Bluebik Group PLC; Dr. Varin Khera, Chief Strategy Officer and Co-Founder of Cloudsec Asia Co., Ltd.; Dr. Jirawat Tangpanitanon, CEO & co-founder of Quantum Technology Foundation (Thailand) or QTFT; also Mr. Jirayut Srupsrisopa, founder and CEO of Bitkub Capital Group Holdings Co., Ltd.
  3. LIFE IN THE FUTURE - discover a second life in a parallel universe with Dr. Natee Theppot, co-founder of Om Platform; Mr. Dan Pathomvanich, Chief Executive Officer of NR Instant Produce Public Company Limited (NRF); and special guest chef Bo – Duangporn Songvisava, with cooking techniques from organic ingredients.
  4. ECOSYTEM FOR A BETTER WORLD – driving toward a better world and sustainable future through ecosystem. The session will be joined by two men from different generations, who are outstanding in environmental protection: Asst. Prof. Thon Thamrongnawasawat, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Fisheries, Kasetsart University; and Mr. Alex Rendell, the first UNEP Goodwill Ambassador for Thailand. Also, the trend of green space and reducing carbon emissions by Ms. Kotchakorn Voraakhom, a Thai landscape architect and special lecturer at faculty of architecture, Chulalongkorn University and owner of Landprocess which designed the Chulalongkorn University Centenary Park, Siam Green Sky; and Mr. Chaiwat Kovavisarach, President and CEO, Bangchak Corp PCL.
  5. HEALTH AND WELL-BEING – focusing on the importance of a balanced life sharing the experience of Mr. Thitipat Supapattranon, Thann's founder and Managing Director of Thann-Oriza.
  6. RENEWABLE ENERGY – gaining different perspectives on global renewable energy revolution, and the Paris Agreement net zero carbon emissions by 2050 pledge, from Mr. Somphote Ahunai, Chief Executive Officer, Energy Absolute PCL, and Mr. Jay Lee, executive director, National Geographic.
  7. EV INDUSTRY – key trends in the EV market by BMW Group experts, including insights into sustainable mobility technology from design to production
  8. COLLABORATION – crytallising ideas and adopting knowledge in the final workshop to inspire and propel a ‘better normal’ way of life.

    BMW Group Thailand  

    BMW Group Thailand, a subsidiary of BMW AG, Germany, was established on the 3rd October 1998. The four entities of BMW Group Thailand are BMW (Thailand) Co., Ltd. with responsibility for wholesales & marketing of BMW Group products, BMW Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. with responsibility for BMW and BMW Motorrad local production, BMW Leasing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. with responsibility for financial services offerings to both wholesale and retail customers, and BMW Parts Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd., with responsibility for supplying components for the assembly of BMW Motorrad vehicles at BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand’s Plant in Rayong.

    In 2021, BMW Group Thailand recorded a stable performance with 11,032 BMW and MINI registrations. A total of 9,982 BMW vehicles and 1,050 MINI vehicles were registered last year. BMW Motorrad Thailand maintained its performance in 2021 with 1,197 motorcycle registrations.

    On the production side, the BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand plant was founded on BMW Group’s strong belief in the growth potential of Asian markets and Thailand in particular with its unique location, strong manufacturing base, and ready supply of skilled automotive labor, being an automotive hub for ASEAN. On-going investment has been put into the expansion of plant Rayong in terms of assembling processes, aiming to meet growing customer demand. In addition, with approximately 4 billion Thai Baht representing the amount of annual purchasing in Thailand, the BMW Global Purchasing office has been established in Thailand. This is to source various components from local suppliers in Thailand and the broader ASEAN region, in order to supply the entire BMW production network of 31 production and assembly facilities, located in 15 countries worldwide.  

    BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand produces the following 18 models: BMW 2 Series, BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, BMW X1, BMW X3, BMW X5, BMW X6 and BMW X7. For BMW Motorrad, the BMW F 900 R, BMW F 900 XR, BMW F 750 GS, BMW F 850 GS, BMW F 850 GS Adventure, BMW R 1250 GS, BMW R 1250 GS Adventure, BMW S 1000 R and BMW S 1000 RR are also locally assembled at the plant. In addition, BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand now assembles five BMW plug-in hybrid models; BMW 330e, BMW 530e, BMW X3 xDrive30e, BMW X5 xDrive45e and BMW 745Le xDrive.
