BMW Thailand marks 50th anniversary of BMW M introducing luxury sports sedan BMW M5 Competition

Bangkok. BMW Thailand is commemorating the 50th anniversary of the BMW M hallmark with the launch of the BMW M5 Competition, a uniquely high-performance sports sedan with an exquisite design and high functionality. Customers who purchase selected BMW M or BMW vehicle equipped with the M Sport package will get the BMW M Badge 50th Anniversary Edition commencing from July to December 2022*.

The BMW M5 Competition continues to emphasise the exclusive character of the high-performance sports sedan come to life with particular intensity. This is due to the superior performance of the V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo Technology, maximum output of 460 kW/625 hp and maximum torque of 750 Nm at 1,800-5,860 rpm along with the particularly direct engine connection, the distinctively configured suspension technology, the all-wheel drive system M xDrive and the Active M Differential in the rear axle transmission.

 

The exterior also features a new kidney grille with M-specific double bars in High-gloss black and M5 Competition badge in black. The updated front apron has bolder contouring and larger air intakes at the sides. The newly designed LED headlights are dynamically complemented by new L-shaped light tubes narrowing towards the kidney. Rear lights with the new 3D design offer precise and densely illuminated LED bars. The 20-inch M double-spoke wheels in Jet Black fiercely enhances the sporty characteristics of the M5 Competition.

 

The driving experience offered by the BMW M5 Competition is defined by powerful thrust, optimum traction, outstanding ride stability and handling that can be controlled precisely at all times. It completes the sprint from standing to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, passing the 200 km/h mark after 10.8 seconds. Featuring new shock absorbers from the BMW M8 Gran Coupé and a retuned chassis, the BMW M5 Competition offers even better driveability and handling at the limit, combined with superior comfort levels. The BMW M5 Competition is 7 mm lower than the BMW M5, allowing for the car's increased power and fully coming into its own on the racetrack.

 

The cabin also features a larger central infotainment display of 12.3 inches that can be accessed via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a cloud-based navigation system.
In addition, there are also improvements to the seat and the centre console with the new two-button operation. The Setup button takes users straight to the central display menu, where they can select an individual. The M Mode button lets the driver toggle swiftly between the ROAD and SPORT settings. The BMW M5 Competition also offers TRACK mode, for an undiluted M feeling on race circuits.
