BMW Group Thailand triumphs four prestigious awards reflecting its success of innovative products and consumer trust in 2021 cementing its leadership in Thailand’s premium automotive market

Bangkok. BMW Group Thailand reaffirms its leading position in the automotive industry by winning four prestigious national awards which underscore the company's aspiration of offering high quality products and services while also providing consumers with driving pleasure and cutting-edge technology. Additionally, a diverse range of vehicles that are renowned for unique performance and design led to long-standing consumer trust based on both public surveys and experts’ selection. The winning awards include:

  • The fourth consecutive years for Thailand’s Most Admired Company 2021 survey by BrandAge, recording high scores in innovation, business achievements, brand image, corporate responsibility, management, and services
  • Thailand Automotive Quality Award (TAQA) 2021 for Outstanding Brand Image for Attractive Design for the fifth consecutive years and Outstanding Brand Image for High Safety
  • Product of The Year Awards 2021 from Business+ Magazine in the category of high-performance SUV for BMW X7 xDrive30d M Sport, and the category of entry-level premium vehicle for the all-electric MINI Cooper SE
  • BEST OF THE BEST 2021 award in the category of “Prize of the Best of Electric Mobility” for BMW iX by the survey research from Robb Report Thailand

This year, BMW Group Thailand offers consumers with innovative technology that embeds in the vehicle of BMW and MINI including diesel, petrol, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric drivetrains as well as high-performance M models. The new models introduction included the new BMW 5 Series, BMW X7 xDrive30d M Sport, BMW 330Li M Sport, BMW M340i xDrive, BMW M4 Competition Coupé, along with the M Performance editions of BMW X3 xDrive20d M Sport, BMW X4 xDrive20d M Sport X and BMW 330e M Sport. The company has also established a new phenomenon in Thailand's electric vehicle market by officially launching BMW iX and BMW iX3 all-electric Sports Activity Vehicles (SAVs) that redefine driving experiences of the future in the Thai automotive market. The accomplishment of launching the two models resulted in BMW iX receiving the BEST OF THE BEST 2021 award in the category of "Prize of the Best of Electric Mobility" from Robb Report Thailand for their excellent performance of future-oriented automobiles.


On top of that, MINI Thailand thrilled fans with the new MINI Cooper S Countryman, MINI John Cooper Works GP Inspired Edition, MINI John Cooper Works Countryman and MINI Paddy Hopkirk Edition. Meanwhile, digital outreach is offered with the new My BMW App and the MINI App, both of which deliver effortless connectivity between drivers and their vehicles through smartphones. 


With a variety of product groups that are distinct from competitors and brand's effort to consistently offer highest quality products, BMW Group Thailand has awarded 2021 Thailand Automotive Quality Award (TAQA) for Outstanding Brand Image for Attractive Design and High Safety based on a survey of product, service, and brand image satisfaction from real car users throughout the country.


Furthermore, BMW Group Thailand offers cutting-edge innovation, including the adoption of connected technology and digital services with an intuitive operating concept in the cockpit, as well as driving and parking assistant: a wide range of functions and assistants, and the innovative features of BMW Personal CoPilot structure every trip to match individual wishes and provide maximum comfort. The company is also making headway in a new space for MINI to deliver sustainable yet highly emotional driving experience in urban traffic and paving the way for a future of the totally Zero-Emissions electric Vehicle (ZEV) by 2030. The ambition for advancement has resulted in BMW Group Thailand being awarded 2021 Business+ Product of The Year Awards in the best automotive category of the year for its high-performance SUV from BMW X7 xDrive30d M Sport and the entry-level luxury sedan of 100% electric MINI Cooper SE.


With the commitment to fight against COVID-19, a number of CSR initiatives were implemented by both BMW Group Thailand and authorised dealers nationwide, such as food & water donation by dealers across the nation, BMW and MINI fleet for healthcare heroes and for car-sharing service to vaccination sites through HAUP app, double donation campaign to support Chaipattana COVID-19 Aid Fund, BMW Group Thailand mobility support for the Upcountry medical team together with partners, and Care4Water foundation’s fund raising activity via the “We Care, We Share” charitable auction. In addition, BMW Group Thailand has altered its client service approach to suit the health requirements of the New Normal era, whether in stores or at customers' homes, with pick-up and delivery services that are more flexible to meet changing lifestyle demands.


The implementation of social activities into actions, as well as the transformation of business strategy to be able to respond quickly to changing conditions, has led BMW Group Thailand being awarded for BrandAge’s Thailand’s Most Admired Company 2021 fourth consecutive years for its outstanding achievements in Innovation, Business Performance, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), and Excellent Service respectively. The BMW Group     

With its four brands BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce and BMW Motorrad, the BMW Group is the world’s leading premium manufacturer of automobiles and motorcycles, also provides premium financial and mobility services.  The BMW Group production network comprises 31 production and assembly facilities in 15 countries; the company  has a global sales network in more than 140 countries.

BMW Group Thailand     

BMW Group Thailand, a subsidiary of BMW AG, Germany, was established on the 3rd October 1998. The four entities of BMW Group Thailand are BMW (Thailand) Co., Ltd. with responsibility for wholesales & marketing of BMW Group products, BMW Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. with responsibility for BMW and BMW Motorrad local production, and BMW Leasing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. with responsibility for financial services offerings to both wholesale and retail customers, and BMW Parts Manufacturing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. with responsibility for automotive components supply for the assembly of BMW Motorrad vehicles at BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand’s Plant Rayong.  


In 2020, BMW Group Thailand recorded a stable performance with 12,426 BMW and MINI deliveries. A total of 11,242 BMW vehicles were delivered to Thai customers, a slight 4.3% decrease from 2019, while a total 1,184 MINI vehicles were delivered in Thailand, reflecting a small dip of only 1.7% drop year-on-year. BMW Motorrad Thailand maintained its performance despite difficult conditions in 2020 with 1,224 motorcycles delivered.   


On the production side, the BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand plant was founded on BMW Group’s strong belief in the growth potential of Asian markets and Thailand in particular with its unique location, strong manufacturing base, and ready supply of skilled automotive labor, being an automotive hub for ASEAN. On-going investment has been put into the expansion of plant Rayong in terms of assembling processes, aiming to meet growing customer demand. In addition, with approximately 4 billion Thai Baht representing the amount of annual purchasing in Thailand, the BMW Global Purchasing office has been established in Thailand. This is to source various components from local suppliers in Thailand and the broader ASEAN region, in order to supply the entire BMW production network of 31 production and assembly facilities, located in 15 countries worldwide.     


BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand produces the following 17 models: BMW 2 Series, BMW 3 Series, BMW 5 Series, BMW 7 Series, BMW X1, BMW X3, BMW X5, and BMW X7. For BMW Motorrad, the BMW F 900 R, BMW F 900 XR, BMW F 750 GS, BMW F 850 GS, BMW F 850 GS Adventure, BMW R 1250 GS, BMW R 1250 GS Adventure, BMW S 1000 R and BMW S 1000 RR are also locally assembled at the plant. In addition, BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand now assembles five BMW plug-in hybrid models; BMW 330e, BMW 530e, BMW X3 xDrive30e, BMW X5 xDrive45e and BMW 745Le xDrive.
