Mr. Alexander Baraka, President, BMW Group Thailand, said, “2020 has undoubtedly been a year of disruptive changes for everyone. Physical and digital experiences double down on the power of choice.

In light of current circumstances, organizers of the Bangkok International Motor Show have taken appropriate measures to ensure peace of mind for show floor visitors – including wider walkways, mandatory face mask use within the venue, and rigorous sterilization routines.

At the BMW, MINI, and BMW Motorrad booths, customers can safely navigate the space with sales consultants equipped with facial masks and shields, while sit-down areas feature increased space between each table as well as a private viewing room to experience our vehicles with minimal congestion.

“Customers who prefer to experience the 2020 Motor Show from the comfort and safety of their homes can do so with the choice to visit our booths via the BMW Virtual Motor Show 2020 platform,” added Mr. Baraka. “This digital experience delivers the full breadth and depth of our booth offerings, including a full tour of the booth spaces, deep dives into each vehicle on display, and interactive conversations with BMW Genius product experts and sales staff via video call and chat message, ultimately enabling customers to reserve a vehicle straight from home.”

The unique combination of the intelligent BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system and cutting-edge BMW eDrive technology makes for sustainable driving pleasure in the new BMW X3 xDrive30e M Sport. The Sports Activity Vehicle’s plug-in hybrid drive – comprising a 2.0-litre, 135 kW/184 hp 4-cylinder petrol engine with BMW TwinPower Turbo Technology and an electric motor integrated into the 8-speed Steptronic Sports transmission with an output of 80 kW/109 hp – transmits power to all four wheels, offering exciting versatility and a purely electric driving experience as well as outstandingly low fuel consumption and emissions.

Together, the 4-cylinder petrol engine and the electric motor of the plug-in hybrid model generate a maximum system output of 215 kW/292 hp. This unique drive configuration reduces average fuel consumption to only 35.7 km/litre. The relevant CO2 emissions amount to 64 grams per kilometre. The combined power consumption of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e is approximately 17.92 kWh per 100 kilometres. Its lithium-ion high-voltage battery, equipped with the very latest battery cell technology, enables purely electric mobility with a range of 47 kilometres according to NEDC standard. This efficiency is achieved without sacrificing performance as the BMW X3 xDrive30e M Sport delivers up to 420 Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. Its top speed is 210 km/h.

Depending on the operating mode and the situation on the road, the electric motor of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e M Sport can be used either for purely electric mobility or to support the combustion engine. In MAX eDrive mode, which can be activated via the eDrive button on the centre console, the new BMW X3 xDrive30e M Sport achieves a top speed of 135 km/h with a locally emissions-free and virtually silent drive unit. In the standard Auto eDrive setting, purely electric driving is possible at speeds of up to 110 km/h. The combustion engine only switches on at higher speeds or when there are particularly high load requirements. When both drive units are active, the efficiency of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e M Sport is optimised, as is its sprint capacity. When accelerating, the spontaneous power development of the electric motor is clearly noticeable, while at constant speeds its electric assist reduces fuel consumption and emissions.

The BATTERY CONTROL setting further serves to keep the charge state of the high-voltage battery at a level determined by the driver. In this way, the power supply can be specifically reserved and used for local emissions-free driving on urban stretches of road during a lengthier trip.

The lithium-ion battery of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e is located in a space-saving position underneath the rear seat, while the fuel tank is positioned above the rear axle. This means that the transport capacity of the plug-in hybrid model is only slightly restricted. At 450 litres, the luggage compartment volume of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e is on a par with those models which have a conventional engine. By folding down the rear seat with 40:20:40 split, the storage space can be extended to up to 1,500 litres.

Thanks to cutting-edge battery cell technology and a gross energy content of 12.0 kWh, the high-voltage battery contributes both to the outstanding efficiency and the excellent electrical range of the new BMW X3 xDrive30e. As a result, the plug-in hybrid model can be used for a great deal of day-to-day travel without locally produced emissions – even beyond the city. The high-voltage battery can be fully charged at conventional household sockets using the standard-equipment charging cable in less than six hours. At a BMW i Wallbox, the same charging process can be completed in around three and a half hours.

The new BMW X3 xDrive30e is available in M Sport variant, boasting 20-inch M Light Alloy Wheels in Double-Spoke Style, Adaptive LED Headlight, Automatic High Beam Assistant, M Sport Brake, Driving Assistant, Parking Assistant, BMW Head-Up Display, Harman/Kardon Surround Sound system, and Aluminum satinated roof rails. Its standard equipment includes acoustic pedestrian protection, which operates when driving electrically at low speeds to emit an unmistakable sound designed specifically for electrified BMW models and alert other road users to the approaching car without impairing the acoustic comfort of the vehicle occupants.

In addition, the new BMW X3 xDrive30e is equipped with an auxiliary air conditioning system as standard. It can also be controlled remotely from a smartphone using the BMW Connected App. New digital services help make it more attractive and convenient to charge the high-voltage battery when out and about – including a search function for public charging stations, remote control of the charging process, and live information on battery charge status, electrical and combined range and individual energy consumption on the driver’s smartphone or other personal devices.

The kidney grille bars come in matte aluminium while M Sport brakes, 20-inch Star Spoke light alloy wheels for the X5 xDrive30d M Sport and 21-inch M light alloy wheels in Y-spoke style for the X5 xDrive45e M Sport bring out the powerful and sporting impressions of the new BMW X5.

The interior of the BMW X5 exudes a classy and modern aura thanks to sophisticated materials, harmonious design and an innovative control concept. The fully-digital instrument cluster and the Control Display share the same graphics and design. The carefully selected materials in
the interior include the Vernasca leather for the standard leather upholstery as well as M Sport leather multifunction steering wheel. Another new feature on board the new BMW X5 includes the panoramic glass roof, whose clear surface is 30% larger than on the outgoing model.

The new MINI Cooper SE

Price: THB 2,290,000

(VAT incl. with MSI Standard Package)

The new MINI Cooper SE draws power from an electric motor instead of a petrol or diesel engine, enabling it to achieve emissions-free mobility together with exciting performance.

The motor of the new MINI Cooper SE mobilises a maximum output of 135 kW/184 hp. Its maximum torque of 270 Nm is already available from standstill, as is characteristic of electric motors. The new MINI Cooper SE accelerates from standing to 60 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. Over the first 60 metres it effortlessly keeps pace with conventionally powered sports cars.

The high-voltage battery with model-specific configuration is made up of lithium-ions cells subdivided into 12 modules, providing a driving range of up to 217 kilometres (NEDC Test Standard) with a gross energy content of 32.6 kWh. The position of its high-voltage battery is placed deep in the vehicle floor between the front seats and below the rear seats. As a result of this arrangement there are no limits to the use of the luggage compartment space as compared to the conventionally powered model versions. In order to ensure the relevant ground clearance for the high-voltage battery installed in the vehicle floor, the body of the new MINI Cooper SE is positioned some 18 millimetres higher than in the conventionally powered model.

The new MINI Cooper SE is fitted as standard with acoustic pedestrian protection. A distinctive sound created especially for the MINI Cooper SE is generated via a speaker system in the low speed range. All components of the electric drive are protected by means of model-specific structural features and immediately switched off in the event of a collision.

The new MINI Cooper SE also has an innovative DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) system for hallmark brand riding fun without loss of traction. The first purely electrically powered MINI also enables the driver to adapt the vehicle setting to the current situation on the road as well as to their own personal preferences. There are four modes to choose from in the MINI Cooper SE – Sport, MID, GREEN, and GREEN+. Also part of the characteristic driving experience in an electrically powered BMW Group model is the so-called one-pedal feeling or regenerative brake, which sees the vehicle perceptibly decelerate once the driver removes their foot from the accelerator.

The high-voltage battery of the new MINI Cooper SE can be charged using either the standard charging cable or a MINI ELECTRIC Wallbox with a maximum capacity of 11 kW – to 80 percent in two and a half hours, and 100 percent in three and a half hours. The charging unit of the new MINI Cooper SE is designed for a maximum charging capacity of 50 kW, allowing an 80 percent charge to be achieved in just 36 minutes. Its charging connection is designed for AC and DC charging using Type 2 and CCS Combo 2 plugs. Above the connection, a charge level indicator displays orange signals for initialisation, pulsating yellow light for an ongoing charging operation, and green light for a fully charged battery.

In the interior, the new model comes as standard with seats in Double Stripe Carbon Black fabric, model-specific gear selector lever on the centre console. The cockpit is geared with a model-specific instrument cluster consisting of a 5.5-inch colour screen in Black Panel design behind the steering wheel providing information on the charge level of the high-voltage battery, the currently selected MINI Driving Mode, the status of the driver assistance systems and Check Control messages. The 8.8-inch touchscreen in the central instrument displays MINI Connected services that are specially geared towards electromobility such as the eDrive screen that provides information on the current flow of energy and the range as well as offering ways of increasing the vehicle range.

The exterior design bears precisely applied accentuations to indicate its future-oriented drive system. The charge connection is located above the right-hand rear wheel – exactly where the fuel filler neck is positioned on the conventionally powered MINI 3 Door. An embossed MINI Electric logo marks the difference in terms of energy input. Yellow versions of this signet appear on the side scuttles, as well as on the tailgate and front radiator grill. A yellow decorative bar on the grill and exterior mirror caps are finished in the same colour, thereby rounding off the model-specific design features. The MINI Cooper SE is fitted as standard with LED headlamps and 17-inch light alloy wheels in MINI Electric Power Spoke design with runflat tyres available exclusively for the new MINI Cooper SE.
