In 2018, Thailand saw the redefinition of the legendary BMW 8 Series with the launch of the BMW M850i xDrive Coupe. This year, the embodiment of elegance and sportiness is reintroduced in an open-top driving experience - the new BMW M850i xDrive Convertible. This second model in the new BMW 8 Series luxury-class line-up blends ultra-sporty driving properties with distinctive design elegance and offers an exclusive passport to BMW driving pleasure and a full-blooded open-top driving experience.

Boasting open-air driving pleasure for four people, the new BMW M850i xDrive Convertible comes with a classical soft-top roof that is fully electric, extremely quiet, lightweight and provides superb acoustic insulation. The roof opens and closes in 15 seconds at the touch of a button and when travelling at up to 50 km/h. A pop-up wind deflector in the rear is fitted as standard to enhance comfort and reduce turbulence when the roof is down.

The BMW 8 Series Convertible cuts an impressive figure with both the roof up or down. When the soft-top roof is closed, it sits taut over the interior, thus retaining its coupé-like silhouette without compromising on design. Sporting the same distinctive design language as its coupe sibling, the BMW M850i xDrive Convertible flaunts an impressive figure with elegantly flowing lines and precise contours on the long bonnet and along the low-slung body. The signature kidney grille is enlarged for a dramatic first look and flares out as it descends to emphasize the vehicle’s low centre of gravity. The large air intakes enhance the capabilities of the aerodynamics complemented by the additional front spoiler to further minimize lift at the front axle.

The exterior adds even more sportiness through full LED headlights with BMW Laserlight that are the slimmest headlights of any BMW model to date. Both light tubes are used to generate the daytime driving lights as well as the low and high beams with High-beam assistant, thereby creating the signature brand look at all times. The focus on sporting prowess is also expressed through the 20-inch Y-spoke M light alloy bicoloured wheels, the M Aerodynamics package and the M Sport brake with exclusive accents of BMW Individual high-gloss Shadow Line.

The BMW M850i xDrive Convertible channels its power through the BMW TwinPower Turbo 8-cylinder petrol engine with M Performance enhancements and 8-speed Steptronic sport transmission. The supreme power is propelled by the characteristic 4.4-litre engine delivering maximum output of 390 kW/530 hp at 5,500 – 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 750 Nm at 1,800 – 4,600 rpm. The open-top 8 Series races from a standstill to 100 km/h within 3.9 seconds at the top speed of 250 km/h.

Dynamic performance is underlined with Driving Experience Control consisting of ADAPTIVE mode with set-up differentiation between COMFORT and ECO Pro modes at one end and SPORT and SPORT+ modes at the other for effortless handling in urban traffic and a high level of long-distance comfort. The driving dynamics and stability is further enhanced by Adaptive M suspension Professional, Integral Active Steering and M sport differential for more agile maneuver in every turn.

Crafted to the highest exclusivity, the new BMW M850i xDrive Convertible is decked with glass application “CraftedClarity” for interior elements creating a luxurious ambience and adorning the gear selector with an illuminated ‘8’, the iDrive Controller, the start/stop button and the volume control for the audio system. The instrument panel is composed of a clearly structured arrangement of controls underscoring the focus on the driver. The new 8 Series Convertible also comes fitted with redesigned front and rear sports seats with low seating position in Merino leather trim and stainless steel interior trim finishers.
