Bangkok. After introducing the Care4Water campaign in Thailand last year with the aim to provide access to clean water to people in need, BMW Group Thailand, in collaboration with its authorized dealers, already delivered 1,930 water filter solutions and shared knowledge on water management to 193,000 Thai people in 25 communities nationwide.
This initiative has been continuously expanding for the second consecutive year. Recently, executives and volunteering staff of BMW Group Thailand led by Mr. Stefan Teuchert, President and BMW Group Manufacturing Thailand led by Mr. Jeffrey Gaudiano, Managing Director and CEO, presented water filters to students and parents at Nikom Sang Ton Eng 9, Rayong province. Together with BMW authorized dealers nationwide, BMW Group Thailand plans to reach out to communities in need across the country aiming to give out at least 5,000 water filters which can sustain the health and lives of up to 500,000 people in Thailand within the coming years.
Officially launched in 2016, Care4Water campaign is a cooperation between BMW Group Thailand and Waves For Water, an American non-profit organization that strives to provide access to clean water to people in need around the world. Thailand is the first country in Asia that has embarked on this project. As of today, the support has already reached communities in other countries such as India, Mexico, China and South Africa. The paramount goal and mission of this project endeavors to improve the quality of life, increase overall health and reduce poverty.
Care4Water has been recognized as an important part of BMW Group Thailand’s CSR projects for the second consecutive year. So far, representatives from BMW Group Thailand, BMW dealers nationwide and Waves For Water have been teaching members of each community how to install and maintain their own portable water filters. In 2016, volunteers participating in the project had reached out to more than 17 communities in need with the donation of over 1,300 water filters, which could improve the lives of 144,000 individuals by giving them access to clean drinkable water. Moreover, one portable water filter can generate clean water for up to 100 people, thus, locals can then pass on the knowledge to other community members as well.
